On May 28, the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2023 ( Big Data Expo) was concluded. During the three days, there were 180,000 participants, including government and corporate representatives, and experts and scholars at home and broad who exchanged ideas with each other around the theme of “integrating digital and real economies, unlocking the future with computing power.”
As of the afternoon of May 28, there had been altogether 220 activities in addition to the opening and closing ceremonies; 353 corporate exhibitors, including 328 that attended offline exhibitions; 900 new products, new technologies, and new programs exhibited to attendees; 20 leading technology achievements released to the public; and 71 signed projects with an investment of RMB 61.3 billion.
From setting up forums to releasing achievements, the expo focused on the development strategy for national digital economy, paid attention to cutting-edge and popular technologies, put a premium on the commercialization of innovative achievements, showcased new practices in digital technology, and provided new solutions that deepen the integration of digital and real economies.
The expo is a critical platform to observe the development of industries. At present, an array of transformative technologies and industries are emerging in general artificial intelligence, which are profoundly changing how we produce and live. Liu Qingfeng, Chairman of the Board of iFlytek Co., Ltd., believed that artificial intelligence should serve as the finishing touch for a greater role of big data.”
China’s east-to-west computing resource transfer project was also heatedly discussed among attendees. “In my view, there are three objectives of the east-to-west computing resource transfer project. The first is to process computing resources and aggregate data; the second is to develop infrastructure of computing power; the third is to coordinate the development of digital and energy resources, especially green power,” said Sun Ninghui, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Around cutting-edge hotspots such as the east-to-west computing resource transfer project, data circulation, large AI models and the industrial Internet, the Expo held seven high-end dialogues and 26 professional forums. There were 521 guests who delivered remarkable speeches and more than 11,000 other attendees.
At the Expo, the “Fangyu Digital Base—Digital Economic Infrastructure and Operation Platform” was officially released in China. Peng Kai, Vice President of Huachuang Yunxin Digital Technology Co., Ltd., said that the “Fangyu Digital Base” can quickly create a wide range of digital trading markets and establish digital social governance tools for governments, companies, among other entities.
At the expo, there were 20 award-winning leading technology achievements and 51 award-winning outstanding technology achievements released to the public. It was introduced that the call for leading technology achievements from around the world attracted 357 entries of outstanding achievements in big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, among other fields, marking an improvement in the overall quality of entries.
Huang Chengqing, Vice Chairman of the Internet Society of China, said that the expo provided a platform for the promotion, release, and cooperative application of leading technology achievements, thus effectively boosting commercialization and application of these achievements. This helped integrate cutting-edge big data technologies with the real economy and empowered the development of the real economy.
"Arrive at the take-off point——assign the task—start with one click—the drone takes off—send back on-site photos..." In the East-to-west Computing Resource Transfer Hall of the specialized exhibition of the Big Date Expo, there were plentiful attendees attracted by the digital twin power grid of China Southern Power Grid Corporation, drones, helicopters, and on-site simulated operations.” With the help of the latest technology, we have enabled the remote take-off of multi-rotor drones with one click,” said by Dai Xiaoming, a staff member at the exhibition area.
In order to make itself more international, professional, and market-oriented, the Big Data Expo has set up six thematic halls this year: the International Exhibition Hall, the East-to-west Computing Resource Transfer Hall, the Digital Industrialization Hall, the Industry Digitalization Hall, the Innovation Scenario Hall, and the Digital Life Hall. There were participants from 328 companies worldwide which aimed to release new products, conduct technological exchanges with counterparts, display their achievements, or demonstrate the application of scenarios, and their activities presented a big stage for the display of innovations in big data technologies.
